Frequently Asked Questions
Yes and no. P Town Funk exists to play groove music, that is its identity and one of the reasons people
love the band, so we do not wish to change that.
Our song choices are well thought out and are entertaining, and we also hope interesting and not
repetitive. In other words, we try not to play the same tired old songs we hear countless live bands
playing, however, inevitably there will always be some crossover.
With the above in mind, we will be happy to look at playing one or two songs you may wish to request,
as long as we are given plenty of notice to learn them, if indeed we don’t already known them. We have
a very busy schedule as musicians in general, and as P Town Funk, so time is always a factor.
Sorry, but we do not take requests at the event itself.
Yes, we have a full range 2500 watt PA system which is capable of handling most small and large scale
events. For instance, we use this system for both large hall and outdoor events.
Yes we can do that with prior notice. We can either run just background music or anything up to a full DJ
set with live DJ. Let us know your requirements and we’ll be happy to quote you.
As standard we use basic portable stage lighting which is sufficient for most small to medium size indoor
events.
We can also quote for whatever scale of light show you require, if indeed you are thinking of something
more exotic than basic stage lighting.
Yes we do and we’re happy to help when we can, but we limit the number to three per year. Most live bands are asked on numerous occasions to appear for free and to raise money for good causes, and we are no different, but please respect that appearing at any event is a big commitment and costs time and money to attend, so we can’t accommodate them all.
A 25% booking fee will be charged with the full balance to be paid no later than 48 hours prior to the
event itself, unless it is a ticketed event.
If an event is cancelled, the cancellation fee is 25% of the total agreed fee. Any other paid fees will be
returned.
A contract will be issued outlining the details of the client’s wishes and the band’s commitments to the
event, so that both parties have a clear understanding of any verbal agreements made.
Payments can be made in cash or by bank transfer upon request of details.
As there are various parameters surrounding ticketed events, we’ll be pleased to come to an individual
agreement with the promoter / venue regarding due payments.
Although we have the name P Town Funk, we don’t just play funk, in fact only about a quarter of the
tracks we play could be considered funk.
What we do is to play groove music, so songs which have a good groove feel to them which can be
danced to. Genre’s include rock, soul, pop and funk from the 60’s to the present day. Sometimes we’ll
play our own versions of songs to give them a groove feel.
We cover a wide range of artists including: Sting, Morcheeba, Sam Cooke, Steely Dan, Dua Lipa, Alice
Merton, UB40, Womack & Womack, Ace Of Base, The Crusaders, Joss Stone, Moloko, Boney M, Meghan
Trainor, Alanis Morissette, Charles & Eddie, Creedence Clearwater Revival, London Beat, Everything But
The Girl, Mazzy Star, Sixpence None The Richer, Diana Ross, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Randy Crawford,
Chaka Khan, Bill Withers, Goldfrapp, Pharrell Williams, The Fugees, The Jacksons, Rose Royce etc.
Any type of function, except for political lobbying events or events which support prejudices.
Events include, but are not exclusive to: Festivals, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, promotions,
ticketed concerts and other life celebrations.
As long as the person is respectful of our equipment and ourselves, and knows how to handle any
equipment they are using, then yes, we are fine with that as long as we know in advance.
What we do not want is guests just jumping up on stage with us. If this happens we would cease playing
until the person is removed by the client or their security, as this not only a disturbance for us trying to
deliver our show, but also a safety issue and potential equipment damage risk.
We do not allow under 18’s on stage with us unless their parent / guardian is in attendance and
watching over them.
We can play for anything up to 2.5 hours and that time can be split into sections to suit your event.
We are based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, UK and are happy to travel to wherever you wish to
book us within reason, either in the UK or beyond.
Our fees will reflect the time, travel costs and possibly accommodation required to be able to facilitate
your event.
Clothing and appearance.
P Town Funk covers all manner of events, so you may wish us to look industry, smart casual or very
smart. Please see our video and photos on this website.
If there is some special clothing requirement, we’d be happy to discuss this with you too.
As well as dressing ourselves, we can also arrange for stage / performance area dressing too, so if you
would like a themed or colour coded backdrop to our show, then that can be achieved and we’re happy
to quote you to create that.
We work with highly professional and qualified staging companies and crews on a regular basis.
Our fee varies depending on the type of event you wish to book us for, the distance we may need to
travel and the client’s wishes with regard to get in time, set up time, performance time, clothing,
equipment, the day of the year etc.
We can provide up to a 2.5 hour show, split into sections to suit your event.
We’re happy to discuss your requirements and will quote fees for your bespoke package.
We have unique set ups regarding keyboard sounds and guitar effects, but other than that, we would be
happy to use any backline provided.
No we do not, unless the client specifically requests their use.
Vox, Drummer (four piece kit), Guitarist / Vox, Stereo twin keyboard set up with out for separate
keyboard bass mix (five keys outs in total).
As long as the venue and our client is in agreement, you are welcome to take photographs of the band
and use them as you see fit without a charge or copyright being applied.
If required to do so by the client, we will help promote our events extensively online, mainly via social
media platforms.
Yes, we can send you a high definition full colour event poster which you can print and use.
